Memory Issues
Thursday, June 12th, 2008
If you are anything like me you probably have enough pictures in your phone to fill up its memory to capacity. The problem with that is that when you do, the phone will cease to function! Phones don’t have RAM (Random Access Memory) like computers, they have Shared Memory. Basically that means that the place you use to store files, numbers, pictures, and to run critical system processes is inside one lonely overused chip . So when start to fill up your memory you might notice your phone moving slower than usual thats because it has more files to shuffle through. That means that when you fill it up with pictures and ringtones it has no room left to access important system files for function like to answer a call, or to even startup! With computers you have what is called “scratch disks” which (in computer terms) is comparable to the hard drive having a scratch sheet of paper to take notes on. Phones don’t have that so they need to have memory room to take those notes. A lot of phones allow you to erase all of the data in the event that you fill up the memory, but some don’t so be careful!
In any event, you have us just in case you have any issues. Any questions, click here for a free estimate.
