Today’s Lesson on Cell Phones….

Today’s Lesson will be: Terminology!. Most cell phone terms can be cross-referenced and that’s were most confusion starts. When you mention a “screen” for your cell phone are you talking about…. A: LCD screen B: Lens C: Chicken wire LCD protector (patent pending). To make matters worse when you say your keypad is damaged, do you mean….. A: The external “Keymat” is missing a button C: The letter “B” won’t Respond or C: My baby drooled all over my phone and it’s non-responsive!. Now let’s define the terms
LCD Screen : Displays User Interface and user data (Movies, Pictures,Contacts, text messages)
Lens : Protective glass cover on top of the LCD Screen.
Keymat: Physical “external” keypad that your finger comes in contact with during a button press.
Keypad: Under the “Keymat”.
Chicken wire screen protector: In development…..
Baby Proof Phone (BPP): Project Scrapped Indefinitely!

Hands-Free ?

With the rising cost of gas I don’t think I could handle a moving violation with a clear head. Call me old fashioned but i just don’t like wireless handsfree headsets! The problem with that is that cell phone manufacturers don’t put much thought into how they design headset jacks! Every one has the same problem: The jack goes bad and the phone thinks it has a headset plugged in. That effectively cuts off the earspeaker and mic! If that does happen just bring your phone in to us and we can fix it for you, and then we will suggest you buy a Bluetooth.

Touchscreens!

Did you know that there are 2 main parts to a touchscreen? (there are more but these are the main parts) There’s the LCD and the Digitizer! The LCD is obviously the display but what you touch isn’t actually the display it’s a sheet of semi-conductive glass or plastic with a small current running through it. So that means that with touchscreen one or two things can happen: The Digitizer goes bad and the screen doesn’t respond to touch, or The Screen goes bad.. it responds to touch, but you can’t see anything to know what you are pointing to. On most touchscreens we can fix both. Touchscreens are very expensive but that’s only if you have to repair both parts, but now you know that there are options. Got a problem with a touchscreen…..

Treo 650

Treo 650 headset jacks. We are fully aware that there was a problem with the Treo 650 headset jack. As a matter of fact we could put money down on the fact that Palm knew there was a problem too! (A certain preventative measure they used for refurbished phone leads us to believe that.) Anyways we are fully equipped to handle that repair! we can usually get them in and out within the hour if you stop by.

Special Orders? We may not always have the parts needed for your phone or you may want to purchase the parts for your phone somewhere else and have it repaired here. For special order repairs we usually have you pay up front, we order the part and contact you when it’s in. If you just want to order the part yourself and have us put it in that’s fine too…..but we WON’T cover the part under our 90 day warranty (hope you trust your sources). All we charge is a set labor rate according to the model of phone you have. Simple!

Sony Ericsson w580 LCD’s are in! The stylish Sony Ericsson Slider can now be repaired. It might not be repaired as quickly as other Phones though! As with most of our repairs it comes with a 90 day warranty
And, Samsung A737 LCD Screens are in! It took us a whle but, we’ve finally gotten hold of them. It’s a quick repair that can be done while you wait.

We fix sidekick charging problems! We can also do them while you wait! We know that if you use a sidekick your battery is never supposed to completely drain! So if you can’t recharge look us up.
